Located on a quiet street in South East London, this Rollscourt Avenue home has been expanded with a ground-floor extension designed by DA Architects. The clients sought to add space while preserving a clean, sophisticated aesthetic. Akarui joined the project team alongside interior designers Stealth Design, working closely to create a lighting scheme that complements the architectural vision. Concealed linear lighting highlights feature skylights while remaining discreet during the day.
The focal point of this extension is an expansive kitchen island, clad in rare Tanzania quartz. Only two sheets of this unique stone exist, with varied translucency that brings a captivating glow to the kitchen. Akarui collaborated with Roundhouse Kitchens to illuminate the island, conducting extensive colour tests and designing a solution that ensures easy maintenance.
